28 days and counting

Holey moley, take off time is just 28 days away and I absolutely cannot wait.  I'm having some trouble finding an airline that will get me to LAX and back to FAT, without spending hours and hours of time waiting at LAX before my Virgin Atlantic flight to London and back to FAT without another long wait at LAX.  I'm highly considering renting a one-way car from Avis.  It is cheaper and far more flexible.

Recently, I found out about the Portabella Road Market in London.  There are many vintage/antique stores along Portabella Road and on Saturday, there is a street fair.  They have a web site and each store is listed with their category of wares.  Whoot!  Antique clocks, ephemera, antique scissors, embroidery and vintage linens are at the top of my list to things to look for.  Saturday, September 3rd, I'll be at the street fair.

In preparation of my trip, I have been doing some major genealogical research and have been able to find the grave site of my grandmother, Grace's maternal grandparents, Thomas and Elizabeth MacIntosh Paterson.  They are buried in the Kilmuir Burial Ground in Knockbain, just across the Firth from Inverness, Scotland.  This is a major find and I cannot wait to actually see their headstone in person.  If you would like to see a preview, go to http://gravestones.rosscromartyroots.co.uk/picture/number895.asp?st=thomas%20paterson  Pretty cool, eh?
